2010 February: Snowmeggadon

When it rains, it pours; when it snows, it blizzards. I'm here to witness an unusual 2010 winter in DC area. Call it Snowmeggadon (the term coined by President Obama), Snowzilla, or Snowpocalyse. The advent started on February 5 lingered on for few days. 54 inches snow accumulated around where I am. Though it's lame comparing to other parts of country or the world, it's quite a big deal for it affects a lot of commuters who work for Uncle Sam. Young folks in DC rallied via Facebook for fun snowball fight. Trees knocked down the power line causing black out in many neighborhoods including ours. Luckily, we got the power back in two hours. Government offices have been closed for 4.5 days thus far and likely more. My house mate's friend helped clearing the walkway. It helped. I tried to dig my little Civic out of snow with no success and got a backache instead. What a beautiful sight around the neighborhood, nonetheless! Once in a while, Mother Nature just wants to flex her muscles to subdue human arrogance and challenge their strength.
