2010 : Summer in a Rented House in NOVA (Northern Virginia)

Everything looks so different in summer. Having been in CA for a long, I have to readjust to this change. A swimming pool in the backyard has been enjoyed by housemates and their friends. A garden patch has started to thrive. Once in a while, a housemate brings home arranged flowers.

2010 June: Hello Goodbye and Hello

Hello to my former student (Larry Redmon) and his family—Nantanat, his beautiful wife, cute children Khun Seuk and Yiwa (I love these poetic names). Goodbye to Ajaan Samerwad and Bruce Howard who are heading to Japan. Bruce had been a Peace Corps volunteer in Songkhla few decades ago.  At the gathering, I also met Mui (Mancharee) and P’Wongpen who are also from Songkhla. It's a small world after all.

2012 June: SEA (Southeast Asian) Teachers Workshop and a Follow-up Session

We organized two one-week (half day) workshops for teachers of Burmese, Indonesian, Lao, Malay, and Thai. Promoting self-reflection was the goal. The teachers shared experiences and, hopefully, learned something new to apply to teaching. A follow-up already took place. More to come.

2010 Summer: Out and About Where I am

Yoga on Wednesday, a ribbon cutting of a new wing by Secretary Hillary Clinton, and Library Display on Iceland keep life around workplace interesting and exciting.
